When examining Cardiff Airport arrivals one needs to place themselves into one of two categories. Are they looking to pick-up an arriving passenger or are they the arriving passengers at the Cardiff Airport? This will help get one to the appropriate information.

Thankfully, Cardiff Airport is small and that is always nice for arriving passengers. Often it means more clear and distinguished options of services available.

Those who are looking to pick-up passengers at Cardiff have two options. Within the airport’s car parks there are designated arrival areas and parking for those waiting for arrivals. However, one would not want to wait too long as the parking is limited to twenty minutes in both cases. Afterwards one will be required to pay the regular parking rates. The short stay parking, which is closest to the terminal, has priority pick-up which costs a pound. The long stay car park has an arrival area also and is free for the twenty minutes. It is also only two minutes walk from the terminal. Because of the twenty minute restriction in both cases, one should make sure to time their own arrival precisely for when one should be at baggage claim. They should also check arrival information for delays.

Those passengers who come to Cardiff Airport arrivals will find an ease to get around. The small size of the airport will get one to baggage claim quickly and on their way. There are car hire and taxi services readily available. For those headed to the Welch countryside, they will find rail has a link from the airport and the bus is available into Cardiff city centre from the airport.

One of the most important of the international airports serving Wales, Cardiff Airport primarily runs its scheduled flights to the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands with a few going to other select European cities. Although bmibaby, Cardiff Airport’s primary carrier handles about 50% of the traffic out of Cardiff, there are a number of other charter airlines that add further destinations across the northern Mediterranean region as far East as Larnaca. Charter service can be found flying out of Cardiff to the Canary Islands and a few transatlantic flights to Alicante, Mexico and several Caribbean Islands including Jamaica and Barbados.

Cardiff Airport has recently begun offering the ePassport Gate service. In partnership with the UK Border Agency, the new ePassport is micro-chipped and the automated gates use state of the art facial recognition software to make the security check process much easier and swifter than the manual security clearance methods.

While waiting for your flight out of Cardiff, there are plenty of places and activities to keep you occupied. After passing through the Departures Gate, you can choose between the Echo Bar which offers music video along with a full menu and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks or the Cafe Ritazza which offers hot and cold drinks, teas, coffee, and pastries. Also available in the Departure lounge is a WH Smith store. From here you can select between a full range of books and newspapers along with snacks, confectioneries, gifts and tobacco products.

A note to remember when you have to travel from Cardiff, making your bookings and reservations online gives you access to many promotional discounts on various goods and services.
